Essam Jameel is a sculptor from Dammam, who has critizised the lack of events in Saudi Arabia to support and enjoy the art of sculpture. Referring to the hunderds of miles of beaches the country enjoys, he suggested people should at least start building sandcastles. On a forum it was reported in 2005 that Jameel had abandoned his art because there was no place to show his work in Saudi Arabia. There was also mentioned his wish for a website and database of Saudi artsists. (December 23, 2009).
