May 28, 2010:

Giant stamp 'Amin' left Amsterdam for Berlin

The stamp Amin by Saudi artist Abdulnasser Gharem left the museum in Amsterdam today on its way to Berlin as a loan to the Grey Borders / Grey Frontiers exhibition of modern art from Saudi Arabia. The stamp which reads: ‘Have a bit of commitment, amin’ was conceived by the artist as an alternative for his work The Path at the Edge of Arabia exhibition in London two years ago and was then acquired by Greenbox Museum. The stamp is the first work of Gharem's ongoing project Restored Behaviour, with which the artist, who is an officer of the Saudi Arabian army in Khamis Mushayt, visualizes social and political concerns around him.

'Amin' will be on show in Soho House, Torstrasse 1, Berlin from June 9 to July 19 and will then return to the museum.
